Gavin shared with me last week that he was working on a Swordfish development board. I spoke with him again over the weekend and he suggested I share here the development board I have been working on. As some of you know, Firewing was released last year which provided a development board and free compiler for PIC24 devices. A recent addition to Firewing was a development board and a free compiler to support PIC32. Well, this weekend saw the BETA release of Firewing for PIC18.

The great news is that the Firewing board for PIC18 works happily with the Swordfish compiler, in addition to the free Firewing compiler (http://www.firewing.info/pmwiki.php?n=F ... nload#BETA). The board is pin compatible with the Arduino UNO, which means your Swordfish projects now have access to a multitude of shield options. I've written a little module which makes interfacing to the Firewing shield really easy

and this article shows you how to integrate the Firewing loader into Swordfish

I would really welcome any comments - if you have any questions, please just ask...

Re: Another Swordfish Board for Arduino
Great work David. I have been a long time fan / user of SF Basic and to be honest I haven't had much of a look at FireWing but I'm sure bitfogav will get me there. Great to hear about the 18F compatibility, in fact - my current project is using the 18f26k22 chip.
I have uploaded details of FireWing along as bitfogavs module for the DigiPixel to my latest kickstarter update.

The board is now available to purchase!

The Firewing range of boards now cover PIC18, PIC24 and PIC32

http://www.firewing.info/pmwiki.php?n=F ... Firewing32
obviously if you are using Swordfish, you need to stick with the PIC18 version

Re: Another Swordfish Board for Arduino
Sorry for the late reply David. I had a browse through and the boards look great!
I would very much like to get into some of the new firewing boards but unfortunately I simply don't have the time that I used to. I used to work 28 hours a week and we had 2 children. I now work about 38 - 40 hours a week and we have 4 children!
I think once the twins get a bit older our house won't be quite as hectic and then I could venture into something new with firewing.
