Supercapacitor charges cell phone in 20 to 30 seconds

A California teen has attracted the attention of tech giants Google for her potentially revolutionary invention which charges a phone in 20 seconds flat.

Eesha created a tiny device that fits inside a cellphone battery, it can charge in 20 to 30 seconds.

“My project, I developed a new supercapacitor, which is basically an energy storage device which can hold a lot of energy in a small amount of volume,” Eesha described.

It does seem that YouTube has been doing very poorly recently in keeping up service.

I posted a comment there but they have not published it. Some numbers need to be explained. Supercapacitors have been around for years; but I looked up the biggest one Mouser had in 3.5V (cell-phone batteries are usually 3.6V) and physically it was about the right size for a cell phone but would keep a smart phone with the GPS and screen running for less than one second. Not very useful! Our son got the high-capacity 3500mA-Hr battery for his smart phone since the 1500mA-Hr one it came with was not adequate for what he wanted. Charging the bigger one in 20 seconds would require more power than you can get from a standard outlet. It would take over 2,000 watts considering that the charger itself would probably only be 90% efficient. If the charger had a cord, that cord would have to be thick like you would use for an electric lawn mower.

You could let the computer sit for an hour while it finishes buffering or close the window and open it afresh.
You could watch at different hours. Their servers seem to be busy during our peak hours which is "Prime Time" (8 O'clock PM and onwards until 11 PM our time or so) in the USA so maybe watching during off peak hours your time and off peak hours (our time) might work. Also remember that we have three time zones so you could add or subtract three hours from your calculations because the world is huge.
Or when I get a few minutes, I can relay information...

It's strange, at work using my phone as interent it seems to work alright. But then at home (where the internet is faster) youtube just doesn't seem to load...

She basically said that her project changed the nano structure and her project says something about the difference between liquid electrons vs solid state although she didn't say anything else about it in the video.

I'm only guessing it involves physics, electron microscopy and changing the nano structure of electrons.

She held her specialization in nanochemistry responsible behind the invention.

She only lit an LED after 20 seconds worth of charging which would explain it.
