Drone crashes mount at civilian airports

I'm posting this because of this article about Drones becoming part of a domestic industry:
The Dawning of Domestic Drones

I think there is a chance we might be taken over by the Decepticons.

I'm wondering why drones are necessary when most civilians aren't doing anything wrong and why are drones necessary today when they weren't necessary 50 years ago. Now we have to pay for a pilot, a supervisor, a mechanic, airport fees, fueling fees, maintenance and repair, and rent to park these machines at an airport or a hanger. There is a cost to these things and I would rather not have to work harder to feed my family when I don't see any benefit to these things. It isn't like I'm skiing in the mountains and got lost and needed to be found. I feel that if residents from other countries are unknown or dangerous, they should just not be allowed in but I'm told the people in charge won't keep them out because they can't do that. Our country went to the moon many years ago and there is very little video footage because they didn't have the money to process it and then it got lost for years. I don't see how all these things benefit us and especially when we don't have access to the moon pictures, etc.
