What is the best price of a Pikit 3?
Newark has it for 44.95:

Sparkfun has one for 49.95:

Microchip Direct has it for 44.95.

But they also sell it for 69.99 with extra stuff.

The next step for me is to learn how to program different microcontrollers including the tutorials here and start breadboarding. My hope is to go onto 32 bit microcontrollers. Do I need the extra stuff in the 69.99 package?
Is this demoboard any good?

Mouser still has the Pikit 2 for 34.99:

Thank you.

How about the pickit 2 - it's still a great device and I am quite sure it is cheaper than the pickit3

Re: Best price for a Pikit 3
I have a Pikit 2 and I'm concerned about programming chips that need a Pikit 3.
Re: Best price for a Pikit 3
Stick with a pickit2 if you can?. I have both but never use the pickit3.. you get more with the pickit2..

Re: Best price for a Pikit 3
There are some pretty powerful chips that can be programmed with the pickit 2 though
